Mr. Z offers a complete Photomicrographic Service. A photomicrograph is the use of a microscope to provide close detailed photographs of any object, including coins. Mr. Z can provide Photomicrographic Services at up to 30 times magnification.
He uses color film so that the beauty of the coin can be enjoyed. He can use black and white if you prefer, but the cost of the film and developing is higher.
He does not recommend using anything over 20 times magnification. If you can not see it at 20 X's, it is not worth seeing.
Two examples of Mr. Z's photomicrographs are shown below. The first is a photograph of the 1946 Walking Liberty reverse doubled die. It is known as FS-001 or Die 1. This photograph was taken at about 10 magnification.
![]() The next photograph is taken at about 25 magnification and shows the repunched date on this 1894 Indian cent. It is known as FS - 011, Snow 1 or Breen 2024. This coin was certified by SEGS as MS 63 Red. This photograph was taken through a plastic slab, so it is very important that the lighting be exact.
