COIN EXAMINATION GUIDELINES

If you have coins that you would like to have examined as a variety, or suspected doubled dies, RPMs, or OMMs that you would like examined, the following guidelines must be followed:

1) A fee of $1 per coin PLUS return postage and insurance must be included with any coins sent for examination and/or attribution.

2) You may send up to, but no more than, 6 coins per shipment. If we receive packages with more than 6 coins, it will delay their return. Six coins will be examined and then we place the package back in rotation waiting its next turn. (All coins will be returned when ALL coins are examined.)

3) Please do not send any additional coins until your previous shipment has been returned.

4) NEVER send coins by Certified Mail. If they are lost or stolen in the mail, you will not be able to recover any of their value. Certified Mail does not carry any insurance. Coins with an estimated value of less than $500 could be sent by Insured First Class mail or Insured Priority Mail. If the coins are valued at $500 or more, they should be sent by Registered Mail, and Insured. (Shipping and Insured value is your responsibility.)

5) If you would like to receive a notice that the coins arrived safely, request a return receipt request form from the Post Office. For an extra 45 cents, tracking information can be obtained for packages shipped via Priority Mail. If you include your email address, we will drop you a note that your coins have arrived.

6) Be sure to package your coins very carefully. ( It is best to mail coins in clear flips.) If coins can move about in the package, they can tear out of the package and be lost.

7) We only examine US coins, please no World coins. World coins will be returned without being examined.

8) Once the coins arrive here, they will be placed in rotation behind the coins we have already received. We will examine coins as time allows. However, due to the demands on our time and the large volume of mail that needs to be processed, it may take anywhere from four to six weeks before the coins are returned. It is usually less than that, but we do ask your patience once they are mailed.

9) Make NO reference to Baker Numismatics or COINS on the outside of the package. This only draws attention to sticking figures during mailing.

10) Place a letter inside the package that includes the following: Name, Postal Address, Phone Number, email address and what you want examined for each coin

11) If we do not have a photographic example of your coin in our files, we will photograph the coin free and mail you a photograph. Place give us permission to remover the coin from its holder for photographing.(We do not remove coins from slabs.) If you want photographs of your coins, please see "Photography Services".

12) If these terms are acceptable to you, please feel free to mail the coins at your convenience. It is best to send an email telling us the coins are in the mail.

Mail the coins to : Frank M. Zapushek, PO Box 1993, Bloomington, IL. 61702-1993.
