![]() Frank M. Zapushek (ANA Membership # 164825) has been called Mr. "Z" by his friends and employees for more years than he would care to admit. Mr. "Z" is a member of :
Mr. "Z" was Secretary of the Society for Die Doubling Collectors of America, for three years. SDDCA was a national club devoted to the study and education of die doubling varieties: Doubled Dies, Repunched Mintmarks, Over Mintmarks, Misplaced Mintmarks, Repunched Dates, Misplaced Dates and other die doubling varieties. He was also elected to a two year term on the Board of Governors for the Illinois State Numismatic Association (ILNA) in 1996. In 1998 was elected to a two year term as Secretary of the Illinois State Numismatic Association and was re-elected three times to two year terms. In 2004, he was elected Vice President and re-elected in 2006. Mr. Z has been the "Editor" of the ILNA Coin Digest since 1997. The Digest is published 4 times each year. The 1998 issues of the "ILNA Coin Digest" placed 2nd in the ANA National Numismatic Publications Contest. The "Digest" was judged better than all State and Regional publications except the Central States Numismatic Society publication.
In 1999, Mostyn Arthur Byrnes, from Australia, asked Mr. Z to help publish a error and variety book. The two men joined together and worked on this project toward the end of 1999. Mr. Byrnes worked on the Australian portion of the book and Mr. Z did the US section in the back of the book. Mr. Z covered both error and variety coins. The book was distributed in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. From February 1999 to June 2000, Mr. Z was working as a consultant on a Federal Trial involving coins. The trial was in Baltimore, Maryland, so Mr. Z was on the East Coast working on the trial from time to time. MR. Z is a member of CONECA, a national error and variety club. He is also a member of NCADD, The National Collectors Association of Die Doubling. He is actively working with novice and experienced collectors throughout Illinois and nationally. He answers about twenty five coin questions each day on the WWW. He believes that the only dumb question is the question that is not asked.
Mr. Z also authenticates coins for two dollars per coin. He will authenticate your key date coins, error coins and variety coins. The only cost is mailing the coins to him, the return postage plus two dollars per coin. He has added the two dollars per coin to help make up the differences in postage regulations from Post Office to Post Office. Check for additional requirements listed under "SERVICES OFFER". He receives about 25 coins each week. They are examined in the order they are received. First in, first examined, first returned.
